Every year the Snowbirds practice for three weeks in my backyard. Almost literally. This morning I tramped off to the local beach in the rain and hail assuming they'd do one fly-by and their annual show would be over due to the extremely low ceiling. Well we got a bit more than that! Yippee! I love these things! I have no desire to fly them, although I've been known to jump out of a Cessna or two.... (I like to say I've taken off 7 more times than I've landed in an airplane) All these photos were taken today except for the one of #6 which was taken off our back deck a few days ago. The single gray aircraft is a F-18 Hornet and I couldn't believe I could see the pilots in my photo. I mean they were close, but not *that* close.
And I'd just like to say. Yay Nikon! I've never had a camera like this. fyi: it's an 18-105 lens.

We enjoy watching them from a distance, on the "other" side of the water!
