If You Need A Shoulder

I've been meaning to make this card for ages and then I realized that the Spellbinders ovals made a perfect frame for these two cuties!

Here is a detail of the Cuttlebug embossing. LOVE these borders!

Synthesis:
Cardstock: Bazzill Monochrom Browns & Burgundy c/s
Stamp: If you Need a Shoulder (sorry Linda! I had to cut off your attribute!)
Image: Quietfire Collage Images, Vintage Children 2
Spellbinders Nestabilities: Petite Ovals Large and Petite Ovals Small (better get these in stock!)
Cuttlebug Embossing Borders: Organic Flourishes Borders

Welcome to Robyn Josephs

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Robyn Josephs as new mistress of the Tuesday Created byhand Challenge! Many thanks to all those who wrote in! Robyn has been a Quietfire Design follower for years and we're very pleased she is taking on this new challenge in the "family"!

Robyn is a multi media artist and spiritual nurturer with a current focus on fibers and paper and book arts. Growing up in a tribe of crafty women, Robyn was knitting and paper "de-crafting" before she could read. Using color, structure and texture Robyn enjoys helping others to discover their inner fiber nature. Robyn facilitates workshops and retreats on arts and spirituality and has been a resident artist at Pendle Hill and Open Connections. Her work is in many private collections. Robyn lives in Montreat, North Carolina and is thrilled to be a member of the Quietfire community.

One World One Heart

Welcome to my Blog! and the 2010 One World One Heart Event! You may read all about it here and see who else is participating!

I will be giving away two collage sheets in pdf form (shown above) to two lucky winners! The collage sheets can be emailed and are full 8 1/2 x 11" sheets when printed by you.

Pull up your Magic Carpet for a little break, the vaccum is available if you need it! Hopefully your Magic Carpet has a bit of Scotch Guard on it because the weather is pretty damp here on the westcoast of Canada right now.

As this is a blogging event, you must have an active blog to enter to win one of these prizes. To be entered into the draw, you must leave me a comment with a link back or an email address so that I can get in touch with you if you win! This event runs through Feb 14, and winners will be announced on February 15. Good luck and thanks for visiting my blog!

Don't forget to leave me a comment before you jump back on your Magic Carpet. Happy Travels!

Queen of Hearts Valentine Challenge Announcement

byhandartist Judy Lawton suggested we should have a Valentine's challenge with a
Queen of Hearts
theme. I thought this was such a great idea that I'm sending it out into the world to see what happens!
Here is what you do: Create a piece of artwork using the theme Queen of Hearts. It can be a card or an atc or a tip in for your altered book or a journal page or a canvas or whatever you are working on these days.
Post it on your blog on February 14.
Then come to the Quietfire Style blog (that's here!) on the February 14 Blog post and add a link to your artwork in the comments section! Easy peasy!
Don't have a blog? Come join us at Quietfire Creations, create a page and add your photo there!

Create without Limits!

Feel free to add this badge to your blog with a link back here to the instructions at http://www.quietfiredesign.ca/! Have fun, my Valentines!

New Blog - Suzanne Cannon

I thought I might move some stuff off this blog and create a blog that was, well, whatever. So I now have a named blog which actually has a post on it.

It's titled Suzanne Cannon (gee, inventive eh?) Feel free to snoop. It has some information about the Christmas cards I send out to family and old friends.

I was just curious about the technology... This message (without the photo) came out on Blogger, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr at the same time. Isn't technology wonderful?

Fibre in the Forest

THE VANCOUVER GUILD OF FIBRE ARTS will be celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2010 with a Fibre in the Forest retreat in the beautiful forests of Loon Lake Camp, B.C. The two week retreat runs from March 29 through April 9, 2010 and will offer workshops in surface design, draping for sewing, lace knitting, collage, quilting, mark making on cloth, book making, doll making – to name a few – as well as areas for self directed work.

On April 8th and 9th I will be teaching the Lutradur Journal! (You can read the description on their site here Or on my site here) The bonus is: it is over 2 days, so we might have time for this book and a technique sampler. Let me know if you need more information!

Day 8 Redux - 12 Days of Christmas

Well, Canada Post did pretty well with most things this holiday season, but not everything! I'm thinking the package didn't want to come north in the middle of winter!
This little quilted cutied comes from Linda Hartzig in South Carolina! Thank you Linda! I love it! The way I photographed it makes me think of a little snail.

And here is one last look at the basket! Awesome swap! Thanks once again to Mary-Beth for organizing us all! Keep on creating and sharing everyone!
