The Lutradur Journal

Designed in particular for fibre artists, but hey, this stuff is fun for everyone!!

And a little more detail.....

In this workshop we get to experiment with a variety of techniques using Lutradur!

Lutradur is a spun bond web material manufactured by Pellon that is very strong yet flexible. It has an open structure and accepts paint, ink, and other materials to interact with a surface that is delicate enough to filter light. It can also be stitched, burned, foiled and embellished!

Our chubby little journal will be approximately 5 ½” x 4 ¼” with about 160 pages.

Created byhand Challenge - Insects

4x4 - Mica is mounted in a window and the butterfly looks the same on both sides of the window!

Papillon from Butterflies Dragonflies
Small butterfly from Butterflies Dragonflies
Large flourish from Flourishes
Versamark Stamp Pad
Mini Brads in Brass
Bazzill Monochrom Green

Jerry Tresser's Gold Size
Ranger Felt Cut n Dry
Mica
23.5 carat transfer gold

Gilding on Mica: A small piece of the Cut n Dry felt stamp pad material was cut from the large sheet and the Gold Size was squirted over it and allowed to soak in for a few minutes. The small butterfly was stamped onto the Gold Sized stamp pad and them stamped onto a thin piece of mica and allowed to dry for a while. The transfer gold was rubbed off the release paper onto the stamped image and the excess gently rubbed off the mica. As a precaution against the gold being scratched off, I split the stamped piece of mica and put a layer of mica over the golden butterfly.

Memorial Guest Book

Thank goodness these "jobs" don't happen too often. I had less than 24 hours notice to make this book. Luckily it all went together nicely and I had just enough ribbon to bind it..... Whew!

Inside I used this quote:

An Invitation to the Quietfire Creations Forum!

Visit Quietfire Creations

I'd like to invite you to join the new Quietfire Creations Forum!

http://quietfire.ning.com/

I think it's ready for the public!

It is not meant to replace the byhandartists Yahoo Group, but
rather to compliment and mesh with it!

The forum has groups as well as the general forum. There is one for
Bookbinders, one for Calligraphers and one for Rubber Stampers. I ask that
stamped artwork incorporates one Quietfire stamped image.

So far, the Design Team and a few others are there.
Isn't the format exciting? I *love* the slideshow!! So please drop over and make yourself a
member and upload some of your artwork!

Happy sharing! Suzanne
P.S. I just discovered the Chat function and have enabled it!
