I'm Telling You...

I have to confess, I started this card about a year ago and just never got to finishing it for Christmas!  Ahem. It has hung around the whole time having been moved countless times.  I guess its survival shows that it was meant to be finished!

I chose the Tim Holtz Bricked embossing folder and rubbed Fired Brick Distress Ink over the high points, then quickly sprinkled the surface with Distress Embossing Powder Fired Brick and Tea Dye, then heat set.  I was really pleased with the brick texture!

The rest is just cutting, stamping and layering as shown.  I got into that texured snow again....
I hope you find it a fun card! Thanks for stopping by!

Created byhand Challenge... oops, missed the deadline

Missed the deadline by quite a lot actually!  Does it help that its been waiting to be photographed for over a week?
Anyway, this was for the glitter challenge!  The reindeer is all glittered, but I couldn't seem to pick up the glint in the glitter.  It's beautiful!

Rolodex Swap - Summer 2010

I just love the Rolodex Swaps on the byhandartists!  My Rolodex is filling with beautiful artwork - this is a way better use for a Rolodex than what they were designed for....

The other day I was showing you my version of the Tim Holtz technique for embossing tags. I had this stuff out and thought, well hey, why not emboss my Rolodex cards?  I didn't have to do anything fancy like for the tags.

Here is the sandwich I used through the Wizard:

And here is a detail of the card (this is one of the variations, there were a few of them)

Using Embossing Folders on Tags

I was working away adding new things to the site recently and took some time to check out this particular entry on Tim Holtz's Blog. He has solved the problem of directional embossing on a tag!

I carry the Number 8 tags he mentioned in the blog post.
Here is my version of his technique.  It's only a problem with the embossing folders that have direction, like this one.

If you're interested you can check out the tags on my site and his embossing folders - I've just added a couple of folders that initially escaped my collection/detection earlier. You can find them on the Product Update Page along with the other awesome things I've brought in recently.

Another item you might like is the Kraft Tags. Such a yummy colour!

Make sure you're subscribed to the Quietfire emails - Wanda will be teaching an online class on Quietfire Creations next week using Tim Holtz Embossing Folders.  Don't miss it!

Life is a Pure Flame redux - Created byhand Challenge

Ever since I laid my eyes on this Tim Holtz Embossing Folder, I had to have it. It had to go with this rubber stamp!
I was a little worried about the theme for this week's challenge (which can be found on the blog and now on Quietfire Creations) then decided, what the heck, I'll use dark red!!
Here is my contribution!
