Queen of Hearts 2012 Challenge Announcement

Two years ago byhandartist Judy Lawton suggested we should have a Valentine's challenge with a Queen of Hearts theme.  Now it's become an annual tradition!
Here is what you do:
  1. Create a piece of artwork using the theme Queen of Hearts (just make sure it's got a heart somewhere!). It can be a card or an atc or a tip in for your altered book or a journal page or a canvas or whatever you are working on these days. You do not have to use Quietfire products to play (although I'd love to see your artwork using them!).
  2. Post your creation on your blog.
  3. Then come to the Quietfire Style blog (that's here!) on February 14. I'll create a special blog post just for it.
  4. Add a link to your blog post displaying your Queen of Hearts artwork to the special Queen of Hearts blog post here! Easy peasy! Addition of links will be cut off at midnight (PST) on the 14th, so make sure you add it in so you can be eligible for the draw prizes.
  5. Prizes, you say Suzanne? Yes! We'll have draws for bags of rubber stamps! Three randomly drawn lucky people will receive $50 worth of rubber stamps each! Spread the word to your friends! The more the merrier!
Don't have a blog? Come join us at Quietfire Creations, create a page and add your photo there! (but don't forget to come here to add your link back to your artwork.)

Create without Limits!

Feel free to right-click, save and add this smaller badge to your blog with a link back here to the instructions at

Have fun, my Valentines!

The Queen of Hearts Valentine Challenge 2011 is now open!!

I thought I'd put this up now to give you lots of time!

Here is a quick card that I made to show the new Craft-Too Hearts and Frames Embossing Folder.

Instructions for Linking Your Entry:
Click on the Froggie saying Add Your Link. When the little form drops down....
Fill in the URL of your blog post - please be specific to the particular post!
Add your name and your email address in the form.
Then click Next Step.  You can even choose the thumbnail of your entry.  How cool is that? and finish.
(you will see a red x next to your own entry - no one else sees that and it would allow you to delete your link - but please don't!!!)
Good luck on the draw!
Thanks so much for sharing your artwork! Happy Valentine's Day!
Please enjoy visiting other entries and tell them how much you like their artwork!

Queen of Hearts Valentine Challenge! Reminder

Just a little reminder about this! On Sunday, you'll add your link in the comments section of my blog post so we can all scurry over and have a look to see what you've made! To give you a little incentive to participate, I'll give away $50 worth of rubber stamps to a randomly chosen participant!

Here are the details;

Just for fun!
byhandartist Judy Lawton suggested we should have a Valentine's challenge with a Queen of Hearts theme. I thought this was such a great idea that I'm sending it out into the world to see what happens! Here is what you do:

Create a piece of artwork using the theme Queen of Hearts. It can be a card or an atc or a calligraphic piece or a tip-in for your altered book or a journal page or a canvas or whatever you are working on these days. Post it on your blog on February 14.

Then go to the
Quietfire Style blog and add a link to your artwork in the comments section! Easy peasy! Don't have a blog? Come join us at Quietfire Creations, create a personal page and add your photo there! (Remember to link your artwork in the Quietfire Style blog)

Create without Limits! Feel free to add this badge to your blog with a link back here to the instruction! Have fun, my Valentines!

Using Spellbinders & Other things

Holy Hairlines Batman! A little too subtle maybe?
The embossed panel was made by cutting a Deckle Mega Rectangle with the Wizard and then embossing the Dreamweaver Heart with Ribbon stencil inside (with a second pass through the Wizard). The decorative paper is 7 Gypsies Notting Hill.

This little offering was made by lettering with Ivory McCaffery Ink (sorry, I used the last bottle and don't know when I'll have it again) using the new Principal nib. Now I'm going to have to try this on darker cardstock to see how those hairline show. NICE combo of ink and pen!

For those of you who have been wondering how to use your other dies with the Spellbinder's Wizard, I've added some things to the Techniques Gallery - several videos from Stacey Caron of Spellbinders which are very informative!

Oh, and I've found a new use for the Removable Magic Tape - perfect for holding Spellbinders dies where you want them and doesn't leave a mark or tear the paper! (My biggest use for this tape is to hold the paper I am lettering on onto the liner underneath)

Don't forget the Tuesday Created byhand Challenge is online: This week it's creating anything but a rectangle or square! (heh heh. Here is the link to the templates on the Techniques page... no rectangles or squares there! - but that's just a suggestion....)

I've created a poll on the Quietfire Design Facebook page about the Queen of Hearts challenge! Please try it! It's a test drive for an upcoming poll where you all get to choose the next rubber stamp quotations!
(when you click the Poll tab at the top, I'm not able to see the question with the poll - another of those quirks of the internet - but you should be able to read it all here.)

And one last note....

ACK! I ran out of paper for the Harlequin Stitched book kit - you can see the new selections on the webpage! The tan leaf version will be back, but not for a while!
