God Grant Me the Serenity

I've wanted to do this quote for a long time.

This is my Becca Feeken wannabe card! In its simplest form, of course. How did I do?  I used her Spellbinders die design and the Becca Bow Maker, too! (Thumbnail links to the products are below)

God Grant Me the Serenity is on of the new rubber stamps available at Quietfire Design.  Here are the three new stamps and right now they can be found in the New Stamps Department!

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!  Suzanne

Find Yourself a Cup - Card

I've had this little pile of Kanban paper lying around for months, meaning to make a card to show off what amazing paper this is.  I think Kim Prince's recent creation using brown tipped me over the edge!  Seeing her card and dealing with the frustrations of a new computer sent me to the drafting table.  And then when I was frustrated with the way the card was developing, I went back to the computer frustrations!
I was pretty pleased with the way this card turned out.  The bow really finished it well. (Thank you Becca Feeken and her Bow Maker!)

Kanban Paper is wonderfully thick cardstock - rich and elegant.

There are two sets of diecuts available on the site, Afternoon Cuppa and Coffee Shop Delights  and I chose Afternoon Cuppa for this card. Kanban has absolutely wonderful browns that coordinate so beautifully.

Synthesis:
I used a few different sheets of Kanban paper, besides the diecuts.  And I went for the combination of Spellbinders Labels 20 and Floral Ovals that I used with some success recently.  I also got to add in the Romantic Rectangles, too! I highly recommend adding wax paper to your sandwich when diecutting intricate dies.  I used my awl quite a lot to poke out the little bitties.

I pulled the pink into the Label 20 diecut by blending the Distress Inks listed below with the Foam Blending Tool.  If you use at least two colours (one after the other, not at the same time!) you get more depth. You can click on the images below to see them a bit larger.

This bow is the double-tailed bow - directions are on the DVD that comes with the Becca Bow Maker.  Nice, huh?
Reagents:
Quietfire Design's Find Yourself a Cup rubber stamp
Archival Ink: Jet Black - for stamping the quote
Kanban Papers: Afternoon Cuppa (I used both a diecut and the paisley cardstock), Shabby Chic Dots - Pink,  Shabby Chic Polka Dot - Chocolate
Cardstock (for card base)
Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Frayed Burlap (see link for Distress Inks below)
Ribbon

Thanks for having a look. Have a creative day! Suzanne

Just for You Card

I really love the new Memory Box dies.  Many of them are very fine and delicate and I really wanted to show this one off without a lot of "clutter" around it.  I'm not quite sure I succeeded!

Card Synthesis
The bow was created with the Becca Bow Maker. It's so fast and easy to make bow with that baby!! I originally wanted to put the box under the Floral Square die cut, but it looked so cute along the side, that I caved.  I was going to use a diecut for the quote, but they all seemed too large, so I just cut and stacked rectangles.
Reagents:
Memory Box Floral Square die
Distress Ink was Peeled Paint
Paper was Kaisercraft English Rose
I used tiny little Micro Pop Dots for the Floral Die

CHA 2012 - Quietfire Style

I had no plans to make a video from my photos at CHA, but then somehow this just happened....  I think it helped me process the whole thing.  I'm still in recovery mode.

You can watch it here or on YouTube.  I hope you enjoy it!

If you watch it here, this is the little blurb:

Here are my very quick impressions of some things I saw at CHA. I took almost 100 photos on the floor and it wasn't nearly enough! (I didn't plan on making this video when I was there.)

The first part is a little two day vacation at Santa Monica and then on the CHA.

Why such fast music? It mirrors the event! Every time you turned around there was more eye candy. Amazing people, amazing displays, amazing talent.
A huge thanks to everyone who demonstrated their products for me, who put up with me taking their picture and who greeted me like a long lost friend!
See you next year!

P.S. You can stop the video any time if you need to see a photo for longer!
